Update on the post of 26 January 2024:
On 27 June 2024 the changes of the German Nationality Act entered into force. Most notably dual citizenship is now allowed from the German perspective and the minimum stay, one of the conditions for entitlement to naturalisation, was reduced from 8 to 5 years (the discretionary fast-track from 6 to 3).
On 28 May 2025 the new government decided that they want to take back the discretionary fast-track.
